Faith Interface is excited to welcome prominent Australian Psychologist, Dr Robi Sonderegger, who has kindly taken time out of his busy schedule to contribute  a number of fascinating and informative  posts over the coming weeks.

Dr Robi is a renowned Clinical Psychologist – best known as a dynamic keynote presenter (delivering hundreds of hours of educational presentations every year). He is broadcast on radio to listeners around the world, and is widely published in both the scientific arena and popular press. Contracted through the Commonwealth of Australia, Dr Robi spent a number of years developing and validating evidence-based early intervention and effective treatment programs for behavioural and emotional disorders.

Internationally, he is recognised as an expert consultant in trauma associated with war, exploitation, and natural disaster (with tens of thousands of refugees around the world having graduated from his programs). Dr Robi is also the Chief Executive of Family Challenge Australia,  a nationally registered mental health charity that provides specialist psychology services in Australia and throughout the world. THE FRONTLINE is a project of the Family Challenge Charitable Trust that seeks to empower disenfranchised community members affected by trauma (associated with war, child-exploitation and natural disaster). With more than 20,000 refugees in Northern Uganda participating in the largest research trial ever conducted in a war zone (collaborating with academics from Boston and Griffith Universities), the EMPOWER Trauma Rehabilitation Program has gone on to become a world leading therapeutic intervention for children of war.

As a speaker and presenter, Dr Robi tackles head-on some of the hard-core issues faced by families in original, educational and highly entertaining ways. His youthful vibrancy and out-of-the-box style strikes a chord with urban and rural families alike in culturally relevant ways. While tackling serious and often confronting topics, Dr Robi’s light hearted yet grounded and practical approach, is really quite something to experience.
